 Joseph and Lisabeth Marziello, Chief Executive Officers, In the fall of 2002 the Board of Governors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area hired new leadership; a CEO team, Joseph and Lisabeth Marziello. Since their arrival in Portland, the Clubs have witnessed significant operational gains, resulting in enhanced return on donor investment, and development of increased opportunities for the youth of our community.Under the Marziello's leadership, youth membership has increased by 152% since 2002. At the same time, administrative expenses have declined from 18.6% in 2002 to 8.2%, enabling more dollars to be allocated directly to programs for youth. As a result of reduced overhead cost, budgeted program dollars have increased from 70% to 85% today. The physical reach of the organization has increased also, from four (4) Club facilities and one (1) after-school program in 2002; to five (5) Club facilities and fifteen (15) after-school programs, totalling twenty (20) locations in the Portland Metro Area, currently serving over 11,000 Kids today.
A long-time major donor for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Portland, with traditionally high expectations, recently announced an additional $1.5 million investment in the organization. This major corporate contribution refelects support for an organization that is financially stable, operating with clearly defined standards, and effectively managing its resources, both financial and programmatic, within a strategic plan for the development of additional infrastructure, quality staff, and proven youth development programs.
