Jackson Room (education programs)
With more than a dozen computers, a high-speed Internet connection and a large collection of educational software, we are able to offer fun, educational multimedia programs such as Web design, graphic arts and movie making. We also offer daily homework assistance with our Power Hour program.
Will’s Studio (art programs)
Members of all ages are encouraged to explore their creative side through the use of clay sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking and more in Will’s Studio. Members are exposed to all forms of art throughout the year with our monthly art exhibits and daily instruction. They also get a chance to display their own work through the National Fine Arts Exhibit, a Boys & Girls Clubs of America program that allows kids to see their artwork professionally displayed and judged.
Rob’s Playhouse (music programs)
At Rob’s Playhouse, professional musicians teach dozens of kids how to play a number of instruments everyday at no extra charge (just the $20 yearly membership!). Several of our members as young as 12 years old have already created their own bands, recorded original songs, and have even performed in front of audiences of more than 200 people.
Norm & Audrey’s Room (games room programs)
This is the hub of the Club where members learn the value of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. Activities such as pool, foosball, ping-pong, air hockey, bumper pool, carpet ball and board games are available. Club Members recently competed in the annual State Games Room Championships where they took home several medals for chess and checkers!
Ray’s Gym (fitness programs)
Ray’s Gym is the perfect place for members to compete in a variety of games that include basketball, kickball, dodge ball, and more. It’s also a great place to learn how to stay fit through our national program, Fitness Authority. At Ray’s Gym, organized leagues for flag football, basketball, and indoor soccer are offered for just $10 per league (includes uniform).
Character & Leadership Programs
One of the main goals at the Boys & Girls Club is to promote good character values and leadership qualities in members. This is done by setting strong examples as staff, but also by inviting members to participate in a number of character and leadership groups and programs. Club members can also run parts of the Boys & Girls Club themselves, such as equipment checkout, acting as tour guides for new members, coaching, scorekeeping, and selling snacks. Finally, we recognize youth daily for achievements in character using the Six Pillars of Character (www.charactercounts.org).
Health & Life Skills Programs
It’s important to arm members with the knowledge they need to stay healthy and safe. We offer the award-winning national SMART Moves program once a year for each age group. SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) Moves teaches kids how to resist peer pressure, make good choices, and retain a positive self-image. The program is divided into age-appropriate curriculums (ages 6–7, 8–9, 10–12). We also offer programs for teens (SMART Girls for girls ages 11–15, and Passport to Manhood for boys ages 11–14).
Sports Programs
Indoor Soccer registration will begin mid-October.
Help support the Clubs by volunteering to be a coach, assistant coach, or referee.
