Contributing your time is a powerful way to support the youth in your community. Just a few hours a week can have a tremendous impact on a child’s life. We count on volunteers to help us carry out our mission by offering quality programs, creating meaningful relationships, and inspiring young people to reach their full potential. Our Clubs offer opportunities for adults to work directly with youth as homework helpers and tutors, activities assistants, and mentors.

There are many ways to get involved at every level of our organization.  We are flexible and strive to match you with an opportunity that fits your skills, interests, and availability.

Volunteer Hours

Depending on location, our Clubs are open from 2:30pm to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. All individual volunteer opportunities listed below are available within that time frame.

Requirements

To volunteer directly with youth, you MUST:

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Commit to a regular schedule of at least 1 day per week for a minimum of 10 weeks

These commitments are very important to us. We need volunteers who will be with us for at least 10 weeks to give the youth the stability and familiarity that is essential to making an impact. We do not currently have “drop-in” volunteer opportunities working with youth.

If you feel you can commit to this, then we would love to have you join our volunteer team!

Process

Step 1:  Check out our available volunteer opportunities.
Step 2: Submit a volunteer application online or in person at one of our Clubs.
Step 3:  Interview. Once you have applied, you will be contacted to schedule an interview. We currently onboard and interview volunteers on a quarterly basis.
Step 4:   Submit a background check. Our youth’s safety is our number one priority. For the safety of our youth, all volunteers are required to submit a background check (criminal history and sex offender registry). Please complete the Volunteer Application to receive a link to our background check form. Please note that the background check is a multi-part process, with two checks and fingerprints.
Step 5: Training. Volunteers will receive some required readings and access to our online training platform to complete the online training. There are four courses to complete that take about 4 hours in total.
Step 6: Orientation. Once you have begun the onboarding process, you will be sent some dates and times to attend an orientation. There will be a few in-person options and one virtual option each quarter.
Step 7: First Day! After you have completed the onboarding process, we will schedule your first day. On our first day, you will receive your volunteer t-shirt, a club tour, and introductions to all of the staff.

Choose the type of volunteer opportunity you’re interested in.

Nurturing a positive and supportive learning environment is extremely important to us. For those members in need of extra or more personalized educational assistance, one-on one tutoring opportunities exist.

We provide nutritious meals and snack each day, at no cost to our members, providing a basic need and equipping youth with the tools to develop lifelong healthy habits. We are looking for volunteers to help serve meals, keep count of the number of youth served, and help in cafeteria clean up.

Clothing Closet & Food Pantry

Our Inukai Family Club, located in Hillsboro, has a robust program to provide the families we serve with the resources they need. We are looking for volunteers to run our pantry twice a week and track the number of families served.
