To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
History
Since 1946, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland has been providing thousands of young people throughout the Portland metro area with affordable, high-quality after-school and summer programs designed to help them develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. Our Clubs offer kids what they want most: safe, clean, fun places to go when they’re not in school; caring adults who respect and guide them; and challenging programs that teach them life skills and keep them engaged in productive activities.

Chief Executive Officers
Joseph & Lisabeth Marziello have more than 19 years of experience as a successful CEO team within the Boys & Girls Club movement.

Leadership Team
Toni Darnall-Shackleton is the Accounting Manager and joined the organization in 2008. Toni’s nonprofit experience includes 7 years at the Alzheimer’s Association where she worked in the Program, Development, and Public Policy & Finance departments. Toni earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Asian Studies from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Daniel Laurendeau is the Development Officer, and joined the organization as Campaign Administrator in 2004. Daniel has many years of experience working with middle school, high school, and college students as a youth director, camp counselor, summer camp director, college director and youth pastor. Daniel was raised in Los Angeles and Eureka, CA. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Humboldt State University.
Melissa Falcone is a Development Manager who joined the organization in 2008. Prior to her position in the Portland organization, Melissa worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito from 2000 – 2008, where she held the positions of Arts & Crafts Director, Education Director, Athletic Director and Program Director. She has also been an active volunteer with several nonprofit organizations including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, and the Catholic Youth Organization’s basketball league. Melissa was raised in Lake Oswego, OR, received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from Villanova University, and her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland.
Rose Rezai is a Development Manager who has worked with the organization since 2007. Prior to joining the organization, Rose worked and volunteered with several nonprofits including Riverside Theatre, Preucil School of Music, and Footliter’s Children’s Theatre. She has also worked with youth as a summer camp counselor for Iowa City Parks and Recreation. Rose was raised in Iowa City, IA. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cornell College, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa School of Law.
Jeff Cook is the Director of Building Operations and has worked with the organization since 2008. Jeff has volunteered with the Special Olympics, Boy Scouts of America, and Christmas in April project. He has also been a coach and mentor through the YMCA and Little League. Jeff grew up in West Linn, OR and graduated from West Linn High School.
Libby Lescalleet is an Executive Program Officer who has worked for the organization since 2000. Promoted to this position in 2003, Libby also served as Unit Director, Program Director and Teen Director for the organization. She has been honored with a Community Leader Award by Rose CDC, a Neighborhood Livability Award for excellence in crime prevention programs and a Chief’s Forum Community Police Problem Solving Award. Libby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and English from LaSalle University.
Nathan Johnson is an Executive Program Officer who has worked for the organization since 2004. His prior positions include Education Supervisor, Asst. Program Director, and Program Director. Nathan has worked with both Minneapolis Parks and Recreation and Eastside Neighborhood Services Inc. as Youth Soccer League Coordinator, summer camp counselor and program staff. He has also served in the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps as a Peer Mediator in Sacramento, CA, and worked as an early childhood literacy specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension in Schnectady, NY. Nathan was raised in Muskego, WI and received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Kerian Walton is the Youth & Family Program Officer and has worked with the organization since 2004. Kerian’s prior positions include Social Recreation Coordinator, Membership Services Coordinator, Asst. Program Director, and Director of Youth & Family Services. Kerian has also coached soccer teams at both the high school and college levels. She was raised in Snohomish, WA, received both a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, and a Master’s degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from Warner Pacific College.
Abdiel Cerrud is the Director of Literacy Initiatives and has worked with the organization since 2005. His prior positions include Program Assistant, Education Coordinator and Program Director. Abdiel also works actively with youth through the Oregon Hispanic Migrant & Leadership Institute, The Forest Grove Migrant Summer Schools and the Ballet Folklorico “Lo Nuestro”. Abdiel grew up in the Portland area and holds a Bachelor Degree in Communication from Portland State University. He also holds a certificate in multisensory instruction from the Slingerland Literacy Institute, and is a DIBELS literacy assessment proctor.
Tim Sicocan is Unit Director at the Blazers Club. Tim has worked with the organization since 2005, and has held the positions of Athletic Director and Program Director. Tim has worked as a college football coach and worked with several football camps serving middle and high school youth. Tim was raised in Milton-Freewater, OR and received a Physical Education degree from Eastern Oregon University.
Ariel Cerrud is Unit Director at the Inukai Family Club, and has worked with the organization since 2005. His previous positions include Social Recreation Coordinator and Program Director. Ariel has worked as a youth advocate with organizations such as Advocates For Youth, the Washington County Commission on Children & Families, the Oregon Hispanic & Migrant Student Leadership Institute, the National Council of La Raza, the Oregon Public Health Association and the Forest Grove School-Based Health Center. Ariel was born in Panama, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Portland State University.
Mandy Cervantes is Program Director for the Jack, Will and Rob Club, and has worked with the organization since 2006. Mandy has worked with Vancouver/Clark Parks and Recreation and the City of Ellensburg as summer camp recreation leader. She has also worked through Central Washington University to coordinate youth field trips and camps, and has volunteered at a teen center in Ellensburg. Mandy was raised in Camas, WA and received her Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management from Central Washington University.
Adam Foote is Program Director at the Meyer Memorial Club, and has worked with the organization since 2006 beginning with a position as Athletic Supervisor. Adam has worked as an Americorps Volunteer at an alternative high school and summer camp, and has also worked as a basketball camp counselor and coach for several basketball and flag football teams. Adam was raised in Arcata, CA and received his degree in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College.
Sarah Fast is Unit Director at the Regence Club, and has worked with the organization since 2005. Her prior positions include Art Coordinator and School Site Supervisor. She has also worked as a camp leader for Tualatin Hills Nature Camp. Sarah was raised in Portland, OR. She received an Associate’s degree in Liberal Studies from Rocky Mountain College, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Portland State University.
Naomi Head is Unit Director at the Wattles Club and has worked with the organization since 2006. Her prior positions include Program Assistant, Athletic Supervisor, Asst. Program Director, and Program Director. Naomi has also worked with youth as a Children’s Church Leader, Outdoor School Counselor, Summer Camp Counselor, and 24 Hour Fitness Kids Club staff. Naomi was raised in Rainier, OR and received her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Warner Pacific College.
