What are the Clubs operating hours?
Generally, the Clubs are open from after school until early evening. Hours vary slightly between the Club locations, so please contact your Club directly for details.
What is the Open Door Policy?
This means that members are free to enter and leave the Club. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardian to instruct their child as to whether they can leave the Club or not.
How can I sign up my child?
STEP #1: Find a Club near your home, work, or your child’s school.
STEP #2: Pick up an application at the Club, or download the application here.
STEP #3: Return the completed application directly to your local Club.
Is Club membership restricted to certain ages?
Generally, Boys & Girls Clubs serve young people 6–18 years old. Programs based in a school setting, rather than at one of our six club locations, are restricted to children who are in the age range served by that school. If you are unsure whether your child falls in the appropriate age range, please contact the Club or school site staff directly.
What do the Boys & Girls Clubs offer to kids?
Boys & Girls Clubs are safe and positive place for kids to enjoy fun and engaging programs at an affordable price. Paid, professional staff members supervise a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of various ages and interests. Activities include leadership and community service clubs, homework help, computers, games, sports, dance, swimming, photography, arts and crafts, discussion groups, college prep, youth employment, delinquency prevention, and much more. Boys & Girls Clubs offer something for every young person.
Why is membership only $5 per year?
We keep our membership fees low so that all children have the opportunity to belong to our Clubs. As a not-for-profit organization, we are fortunate to have partners and donors who enable us to employ trained professionals and to offer a wide array of programs.
Do the Clubs have summer programs?
During the summer, Clubs are open in the afternoon to all current members. Many of our Clubs offer full-day summer camp programs for an additional fee. Call your Club directly for more information about summer programs available for your child.
Do the Clubs provide transportation from my child’s school?
We are always working to provide transportation from schools to our Club locations. For information specific to your child’s school, please contact your Club directly.
How are Boys & Girls Clubs different from other youth organizations?
Boys & Girls Clubs are specially designed to serve youth 6–18 years old. As a result, young people find a unique sense of belonging at their Club. Clubs are supervised by trained youth development professionals, not just volunteers. They offer a wide variety of programs that build character, enhance education, cultivate creativity, encourage fitness and teamwork, and teach important life skills- all for the affordable rate of only $5 per year.
Are the Clubs open on no-school days?
Yes, Club programming is offered on no school days. Hours vary slightly between the Club locations, so please contact your Club directly for details.
Can lost membership cards be replaced?
Yes, however members must pay $1.00 for a replacement.
Can I volunteer?
Yes, you can volunteer. Parents, as with any adult volunteer, are asked to pass a criminal background check and attend a volunteer orientation.
Can my child call home?
Yes, children can call home to speak with parents or guardians. We encourage families to make sleep over plans and similar social plans prior to kids arriving at the Club to ensure that all parents have the details of those social events.
Can my child bring money to the Club?
Children can bring money to the Club to use in the snack and soda vending machines.
What if my child gets hungry at the Club?
Snacks are provided after school at most Club locations. Many of our locations also offer hot meals through our Kids Café programs. Please check with the Club nearest you for details about this program and for menu options and food service times. In addition, all our Clubs have vending and soda machines.
Can my child go on a field trip?
Many of our Club staff offer specialized field trips during the school year that relate to programs and projects that are underway, and youth who have taken part in those programs will be invited. For some of these trips there will be an additional cost. During the summer field trips are more recreational in nature and may be open to the general Club membership. Summer field trips have an additional cost.
